Functional Medicine – Functional medicine asks two fundamental questions, “What building blocks are missing to achieve optimum function?” and “What components are blocking ideal biological operations?” It is said you are what you eat, but we are much more than that. We are a complex interaction of our inherited tendencies, what we eat, drink, breath, absorb, think, feel and experience.
Functional Medicine evaluates balance of hormones, oxidation, inflammation, structure, and examines root inputs such as dietary nutrition, toxin load, activity, stress levels and infection. By looking at the body as a whole instead of individual organ systems, patterns will emerge that point to targets that can be leveraged to achieve optimum health. By fine tuning some of these inputs we can allow the body to strengthen intrinsic defenses against disease and find its inherent vitality. Welcome to the exciting journey of nutrition and functional medicine!
